i.e. what you can expect as we work on your project
Every quilt we create follows a careful step-by-step process designed to protect your shirts and produce a beautiful finished quilt.
Step 1: Contact & Consultation
Reach out through our website, email, or social media
We’ll discuss your quilt size, layout preferences, and any customization options.
You’ll receive a price estimate based on the quilt size and add-ons.
Step 2: Gather & Prepare Your T-Shirts
Select the T-shirts you’d like included in the quilt. A throw-size (50”x60”) quilt typically requires 15-20 adult T-shirts.
Wash the shirts before sending them. Do not use fabric softener, as it may affect the stabilizing process.
If you have specific designs or logos you want featured, pin a note to those areas.
Double-Sided T-Shirts: Place a safety pin near the collar of any double-sided T-shirt to indicate which side should be used. If you want both sides included in the quilt, place a pin on both sides.
Step 3: Ship or Drop Off Your Shirts
Package your T-shirts securely and ship them to Stitches N Ditches (address provided upon order confirmation).
If local, drop-off appointments can be arranged.
We will verify that your package has been received and notify you when your shirts arrive safely.

How Your T-Shirt Quilt Is Made
Step 6: Completion & Final Payment
Once your quilt is finished, you’ll receive photos of the completed quilt.
The remaining balance is due before shipping or pickup.
Step 7: Shipping or Pickup
Your quilt will be carefully packaged and shipped back to you with tracking and insurance.
If local, a pickup appointment can be scheduled.
Optional Customization:
• Embroidered names, dates, or messages
• Custom quilt labels to document the story of your quilt
Turnaround Time:
Approximate completion time: 6 months (subject to order volume and complexity). Turnaround time may vary depending on seasonal demand.
Rush orders may be available—please inquire if you need a faster turnaround.
Step 5: Quilt Construction
The T-shirts are sewn together to form the quilt top.
Once the quilt top is completed, another photo of the completed top will be sent to you.
Batting and backing fabric are layered, and the quilt is then long-arm quilted for durability and texture.
Binding is added to complete the edges of the quilt.
Step 4: Quilt Design & Approval
When we begin your quilt, we will notify you that work has started.
A photo of the proposed layout will be provided. Once you approve the layout, we will proceed to stitch the quilt together.
If you’ve selected custom embroidery (names, dates, messages), placement will be confirmed.
