What is a Signature Quilt?

A signature quilt is a quilt made from fabric squares that guests sign during a special event or celebration. These quilts are often used as a wedding guest book alternative, but they are also popular for baby showers, retirements, graduations, and family reunions.

After the event, the signed squares are carefully sewn together into a finished quilt that preserves the messages and memories from that day.

How Signature Quilts Work

Guests write messages using fabric-safe pens.
After the event, the signed squares are sent to our studio.
The squares are carefully arranged and sewn into a finished quilt.

Planning Ahead

Signature quilts work best when squares are prepared before the event and guests are provided with clear instructions and fabric-safe pens. Instruct your guests to leave at least 1/2 inch of blank space on the edges of all four sides. This way, part of their message isn't lost in the seams of the quilt.

We’re happy to guide you through preparing your signature squares so your finished quilt turns out beautifully. It's best to choose a "Charm Pack" to provide to your guests. A charm pack is a pre-cut 5.5 inch square of pre-cut fabric squares. Charm packs come in a variety of colors and patterns. It's best to choose a neutral solid color so that your guests messages come through clearly.

Turnaround Time

Signature quilts are typically completed within our standard quilt turnaround time. If your event has a specific deadline, please contact us to discuss scheduling.

Customization Options

Signature quilts can be further personalized to make the finished piece even more meaningful.

Options include:

• Custom embroidered quilt label that documents the event, such as the couple’s names, the wedding date, or a meaningful message from the celebration
• Embroidered details such as names, dates, or event information stitched directly into the quilt design
• Photo panels where photographs are transferred to fabric and incorporated into the quilt
